Samantha Carruthers MAPS, SFHEA
Principal Psychologist and Director of Anahata Psychology and Consulting, Samantha practices in Cairns and is available to work with adults face to face and via Telehealth. She works with her labradoodle ‘Blackie Boy’ in the room.
Since graduating in 1996, Samantha has worked in clinical, counselling, forensic and organisational psychology settings in Australia and the UK. While maintaining her private practice (est. 2007) Samantha specialised in leadership development in the health and higher education sectors. She uses an eclectic approach, influenced by CBT, acceptance and commitment therapy, compassion focused therapy, positive psychology and social constructivism.

As well as counselling, Samantha applies her psychological expertise in organisational settings, using methodologies including program logic and action research methodologies. She has gained International recognition though peer reviewed publications in areas including leadership development, transformational change, higher education and organisational culture.
Her memberships include: AHPRA Registered Psychologist, Member of the Australian Psychological Society (MAPS), Senior Fellow Higher Education Academy (SFHEA), AHPRA Approved Supervisor, Far North Qld Australian Psychological Society Committee Member and the Australasian Facilitators Network member. She is currently doing her yoga teacher training, as well as training her beloved labradoodle to be a therapy dog. Samantha likes to volunteer at the AATTV Memorial Grove at Canungra and participate in beach clean ups.
